Hair is an important part of both men's and women's aesthetics, and as such, hair care and beauty trends change with every season.

One of the preferred procedures is highlights, which have come to stay, as they brighten the face and even disguise the passage of years. The technique has evolved, as have the products used. "Highlights can be done outdoors or with aluminum foil — with the classic method being the most used," says trichologist Sandra Perondi.

The choice of paper depends on the technique and the chemistry used: laminated paper, aluminum foil, isolating paper, and plastic. "The biggest villain is aluminum and laminated paper," says Sandra.

According to the professional, bleaching powder cannot be used on metallic surfaces or containers, although more than 90% of professionals use these papers in bleaching. "The chemical mixture of ammonium persulfate and hydrogen peroxide, in contact with aluminum or laminated paper, releases aluminum oxide, which immediately penetrates the hair fiber, leaving the hair porous, dull, often elastic, or chemically cut," she explains.

For those who will bleach their hair, it is important to be aware: ANVISA warns and does not release the commercialization of bleaching powder without guidance. In the instructions for use, for example, the indication is clear: do not use metallic materials or containers. However, most professionals use aluminum foil or laminated paper during the bleaching process.

Isolating paper and plastic are compatible with this type of product, but they are inefficient because they allow the oxygen produced to remove pigment from the hair fiber to evaporate, making the bleaching corrosive and the hair fiber porous, dull, and damaged.

Thinking about hair health, there is an option that is efficient and compatible with the chemistry of bleaching agents — the paper is metal-free with perfect insulation, providing healthy, safe bleaching with less risk of damage to the hair fiber.

"This paper has AIR FLOW technology, which provides greater adhesion and insulation during bleaching, protecting the hair fiber and contributing to the environment, as it is produced from sustainable resources," says Sandra.
