Aluminum is absorbed into our bodies through our diet and the air we breathe, but only a fraction is absorbed because the lungs, stomach, and kidneys work together to eliminate more than 95% of the total amount ingested.

Recent studies show the impact of this metal on the body and the occurrence of neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer's, autoimmune diseases, and even breast cancer.

It is also observed that people with excess aluminum in the body may have chronic alterations in intestinal problems, such as irritable bowel syndrome or worsening hemorrhoids, abdominal swelling, and poor digestion, skin problems, joint and muscle pain, hair loss, weight loss, fatigue, among other symptoms.

We ingest aluminum when using certain products: toothpaste, roll-on antiperspirant deodorant, cosmetics (blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, foundation, compact powder, mascara, eyeliner, eye and lip pencils, body and face moisturizer, among others…), nail polish, liquid and bar soaps, medications: in antacids, kitchen utensils: pots, pans, cake and bread molds, cutlery, etc., as they release aluminum into cooked foods. There is also a risk of ingesting aluminum when scraping the bottom of these containers.

Food packaging: beverage cans are dangerous if the product is acidic (fruit juice, sodas…); aluminum foil (avoid cooking fish in the oven, wrapped in these sheets, with lemon juice); packaging that may sometimes contain aluminum in contact with the liquid.

In our diet, aluminum is contained in food additives: anticoagulants, hardeners, leavening agents, emulsifiers, colorants, acidulants… Some are soluble and can pass through the intestinal wall.

Therefore, avoiding ultra-processed products is part of detoxification, in addition to routinely including in the diet fruits and vegetables in general, preferably organic, but especially kale, broccoli, wasabi, lactobacillus, among others.

It is extremely important to modulate the intestinal microbiota by also removing foods that cause discomfort, as they end up causing irritation to the intestinal walls and decrease elimination.

Therefore, for those with excess aluminum in the body, adopting dietary reeducation and making the diet as natural as possible is necessary; the less inclusion of industrialized products, the better the result and the elimination of the problem.

Peel more and unwrap less.
